Candlewicking Quilt

I thought that it was time that I had a project that would take me a long time to do. I have been wanting to do a candlewicking quilt for along time but just never thought that I would be able to finish it. Instead of starting out small I went for a queen size quilt top. One flower pedal has over 80 knots. So I started it and about a year later I was finish with help from the best Mom in the world, not only did she make my quilt top dance she helped me with the candlewicking. This is one quilt that I will never make again, but I am glad that I did it once.

Warm hearts quilt for Carolyn

My co-worker Carolyn lost her husband to cancer, and I knew that I wanted to make her a quilt with hearts cut out of one of his shirts. To do so I had to enlist her daughter to help me get one of his shirts. I had only the idea of putting three hearts on the quilt to represent Carolyn her husband Chuck and their daughter Amber, but that is all I had. My niece showed me this fabric that when I saw it, it said this is the one for Carolyn. Thanks Mom for quilting Carolyn's quilt for me.

Quilt for Dr. Hall

When your son comes to you and wants to know if you will make a quilt for a doctor, but not just any ole doctor but a Doctor that let Rhett stay with him while he was working at the hospital you say sure. Then you say what do you want it made out of and the list goes like this. I want WSU fabric in it, fabric that has bikes on it since Dr. Hall likes to bike oh and something to do with a doctor, like a blood pressure cuff or a stethoscope you know Mom something to do with medicine.

My brother in-law Gary asked me if I would make Pittsburgh Steelers quilt for Ken, he is the owner of the bowling alley and of course I said yes.  Ken is the one holding the quilt and Gary is the one holding the pillow cases.  Not a bad looking quilt if you like the Steelers

Quilt for Kyle

If one is going through chemo treatments, then one should have their own quilt to take with them to keep them warm.  Brenda and Kyle are two wonderful people, they would give anything do anything for anyone. So when I heard that Kyle had cancer I knew that I wanted to make him a quilt.

A to ZZZZZZZZZZZ Snowman Quilt

When Mom told me that she was going to make this quilt I  told her "I'm not going to make this one is" guess I was wrong.  After it was all said and done it is a pretty cute little quilt.  Once again Mom knows best.:)  and thanks for making my little A to ZZZZZZZZZ Snowman quilt dance)

Seattle Seahawks Quilt for Kailee

When our granddaughter Kailee came over a few months ago, she wanted to know if we could sew something, we made a little fleece blanket and called it good. But I told her that for her birthday I would make her a Seattle Seahawk quilt. Kailee loves the Seahawks. I went on the hunt for the perfect lime green fabric to go along with the Seahawk fabric that I was hard to find but thanks to the internet I was able to locate a few yards.  I started to make the quilt before  Super Bowl XLVIII 2014 and as I was sewing it together I was thinking please let the Seahawks win the Super Bowl cause it would not be the same if the lost.  The Seahawks kicked those Denver Broncos butt 43-8. I don't think that this quilt could have turned out any better. I hope that Kailee likes it.

Winding Ways

Last year around this time my sister inlaw Jeanne showed me this quilt called the Winding Ways... it is a two tone quilt whites and reds.  I told my Mom about this Winding Ways quilt and told her that I thought we should make it at the quilt retreat and since we both had alot of reds and whites we would not have to go out and purchase alot of fabric. Had it not been for Jeanne's AccuCut machine we would have never made this quilt, but when you just lay your fabric on the die cut and roll it through  you get all your little pieces cut out for you and all I had to do is turn the handle.

I can now say I went down the Winding Ways of the quilt world.

"NO QUIT" Quilt for Tad

While my cousin Tad was living in the Virgin Island, he got very sick and had a 72 day stay at the hospital. At one point his doctors contacted his kids and told them, that if they wanted to see their Dad they needed to come as they did not think that Tad was going to make. Tad's kids were on the next plane to the Virgin Island to say goodbye to their Dad. That is not how the story ended, it end with the love and support from Tad's kids, family and friends Tad made it out of the hospital and now is back in Idaho.  So you ask how does this quilt come into play after wanted to do something for Tad but not knowing what, Mom and I came up with idea to make a Denver Bronco's quilt for Tad.  Tad is a big Denver Bronco fan so Mom and I got busy and made Tad a one of a kind Denver Bronco quilt, if you look close you will see a little Seahawk helmet on the backside of the quilt, cause not only are Mom and I Seahawk's fan the Seahawks won the Superbowl, and we had to rub it in a little.

Finding the Bronco fabric was another story, the local fabric stores did not have so the next best place ... head to the internet and sure enough that is where I found so I immediately ordered it after it arrived I went on the hunt to find fabric to match it. The name of the pattern is "Shadow Box" I thought the quilt turned out great. Thanks to Mom for making it dance with her quilting. Made with love just for Tad.
